Tenergy 05 vs Tenergy 05 Hard — which one fits you
Manufacturer figures
Butterfly official, 0-100Both products use the same manufacturer scale, so these figures can be read side by side.
What actually differs
As the name says, this is the same rubber at a different hardness. Identical topsheet, firmer sponge. So the question is not which is better but which one your swing can actually compress.
On the official figures the Hard version is markedly higher in spin and throw angle, while speed is similar or slightly lower. A firmer sponge is not adding speed — it is holding the ball longer and turning that into rotation.
The test is simple. If you hit your hardest with Tenergy 05 and feel the sponge bottom out with no more power available, it is time to go Hard. If you do not feel that yet, the Hard version will read as a rubber that grips less.
Few players run Hard on both wings. Hard on the forehand and standard 05 on the backhand is the common arrangement, and this is why.
