The official figures say it plainly: 64 is faster, while 05 is higher in both spin and throw. The combination is easy to read — 64 sends the ball low and quick, 05 makes it curve down.

If you trade quickly from close to the table, 64 suits you; a flatter trajectory gives the opponent less time. If your main weapon is a looped drive from mid-distance, the arc of 05 is what keeps it on the table.
