About this product
A single-ply 10mm Kiso hinoki (cypress) blade with no carbon at all. Construction, thickness, reaction (13.6) and vibration (12.9) are essentially identical to V-MAX, added the same day — yet this costs ₩560,000, more than double V-MAX’s ₩240,000.
Identical figures at a different price point out mean the wood grading differs. A single-ply blade is just one sheet of timber — there is no way to blend grades the way plywood does, so grain, knots and drying all show up directly as reaction variance. G-MAX is best read as the higher tier that selects for narrower variance (more consistent timber), not a different design.
A carbon-free 10mm single ply gives a direct, high-reaction feel at the hand, which is why penhold and old-school shakehand players favour this construction. Natural wood also varies more piece to piece than wood-plus-carbon builds, so it rewards a settled stroke over a light, fast swing.
