DHS

Gold Arc 8

A non-tacky rubber in the Gold Arc family, raising reaction speed and friction together.

About this product

The Gold Arc (金弓) family is DHS’s tensor line rather than a tacky one. If Hurricane represents Chinese tacky rubber, this sits closer to the European tensor tradition.

Its hardness is quoted as 47.5 and 50, a completely different range from Hurricane’s 37 to 42. That does not mean it is harder — it means the measuring standard differs. Hurricane uses the Chinese scale, Gold Arc the German one. Even within a single brand the basis changes by family, so comparing the numbers directly is simply wrong.

Thickness is given only as grades, "medium / thick", with no millimetre figure published. We reproduce the manufacturer’s notation rather than converting it ourselves.

If tacky rubber has not worked for you and you want to move to tensor without leaving the brand, this is where to go. ₩72,000 is mid-range for a tensor rubber.

What the numbers say

Inverted, 47.5 / 50 sponge. Its elasticity of 10.0 ranks 1 of 7 rubbers, among the very highest. It is on the less tacky side. Based on the manufacturer’s published figures.

Positions read from the rubber positioning chart DHS Korea publishes (7 rubbers). The original has no numbers, so only relative position is meaningful. Further right is tackier; higher means more elastic. Variants that differ only in sponge colour or grade are plotted by DHS as a single point, so they overlap.
