DHSTacky rubber used by national team players

NEO Hurricane 3

The standard tacky rubber used at national team level. Known for powerful spin and a distinctive tacky feel.

About this product

The reference point for Chinese tacky rubber. It is sold in five hardnesses — 37, 38, 39, 40 and 41 degrees — across three thicknesses, 2.1, 2.15 and 2.2mm, which is more than fifteen combinations.

That granularity tells you what this rubber is. In a tacky rubber the topsheet grips the ball to make spin while the sponge returns the energy; if the sponge is too hard to compress, the sheet simply slides. Finding the hardness that matches your swing is therefore not a detail of choosing this rubber — it is the whole of it.

As a rule of thumb: when a full swing compresses the sponge completely and no more power comes out, go up a step. Without that sensation, anything from 39 degrees up will feel like a rubber that does not grip.

₩40,000 is low for this level of rubber. It is an affordable way for a tensor player to try tacky for the first time — provided you expect the ball not to fly. That is the design, not a fault.

What the numbers say

Inverted, 37 / 38 / 39 / 40 / 41° sponge. Its elasticity of 3.7 ranks 4 of 7 rubbers, mid-range. It is on the tackier side. Based on the manufacturer’s published figures.

Positions read from the rubber positioning chart DHS Korea publishes (7 rubbers). The original has no numbers, so only relative position is meaningful. Further right is tackier; higher means more elastic. Variants that differ only in sponge colour or grade are plotted by DHS as a single point, so they overlap.
