DHS

NEO Hurricane 3 Provincial (Orange Sponge)

The orange-sponge version of the national-team spec. DHS describes the orange sponge as having "an advantage in spin and control thanks to its soft feel" — unlike the power-focused blue sponge, this spec suits national-team backhands and provincial-grade forehands.

About this product

Guoguang (國狂) denotes the specification supplied to the Chinese national team. Where the standard Neo Hurricane 3 costs ₩40,000, this is ₩100,000 — two and a half times as much.

The clearest difference is that only two hardnesses are offered, 39 and 40. The standard version spans 37 to 41; Guoguang keeps only the narrow band the national team actually uses. This is not "pick the hardness that suits you" — it is a rubber for players who can use that band.

The orange sponge is one of two Guoguang variants, the other being blue. DHS states no numerical difference between them and we have no basis to describe one. What is measurable is the price: orange is ₩15,000 cheaper.

If your swing cannot yet compress 39 degrees, the extra ₩60,000 buys nothing. Finding your hardness on the standard Neo Hurricane 3 first is the right order.

What the numbers say

Inverted, 39° / 40° sponge. Its elasticity of 3.7 ranks 4 of 7 rubbers, mid-range. It is on the tackier side. Based on the manufacturer’s published figures.

Positions read from the rubber positioning chart DHS Korea publishes (7 rubbers). The original has no numbers, so only relative position is meaningful. Further right is tackier; higher means more elastic. Variants that differ only in sponge colour or grade are plotted by DHS as a single point, so they overlap.
