Nittaku's long-running short-pips bestseller, whose pimples are coated with a tacky layer to create deceptive strokes unlike any other short-pips rubber.
About this product
The only short-pimple rubber among the Nittaku products here. Spin 7.25 and speed 10 put it in a different band of figures from the inverted rubbers entirely.
Short pimples face outward. The sheet does not wrap the ball, so it imparts less spin — and equally, absorbs less of the opponent’s. A spin figure of 7.25 is the consequence of that structure, not a shortfall.
There are situations where this is a weapon. Taking a heavily spun ball and pushing it back flat does not return the opponent’s rotation to them. It suits fast close-to-table returning, and is most often used on the backhand.
It does run against the grain of modern spin-based play. Starting here before learning the basics on inverted rubber means never developing the feel for generating spin at all.
What the numbers say
Short pips, 30° sponge. Its speed of 6.1 ranks 12 of 23 rubbers, mid-range. The other axes sit at a similar level, so the profile is well balanced. Based on the manufacturer’s published figures.

Where this rubber sits among Nittaku inverted rubbers
Speed and spin figures Nittaku publishes for 14 of its inverted rubbers. Nittaku does not state a maximum, so read this as relative position within the family. Further right is faster; higher means more spin. Other brands use different scales and are not mixed in.
